Ringette Ontario Update:
Back On The Ice 2020-2021

We thank everyone for their patience and support of the decisions that were made by Ringette Canada and Ringette Ontario regarding the end of the 2019/2020 ringette season and the state of ringette moving forward. While we know that it was not the ending that any of us were hoping for this season, the decision to end the season as we did, was based on guidelines and mandates by Public Health and was what was best for our athletes and families to stay safe.

Since the season came to a close on March 13th, we have not stopped working on how we can get us back on the ice. We continue to work with our colleagues across the country in ringette and within the sport world here in Ontario, as we examine options and plans for the upcoming 2020-2021 ringette season. We encourage everyone to keep themselves informed of the information that various levels of government and the medical community are issuing. Our primary concern is for our ringette family, their extended families and the impact we may have on local communities.

Ringette Ontario is committed to getting our athletes back on the ice at earliest convenience. We understand that there are many unknowns around a Return to Play date or details, so we have formed a number of ad-hoc working groups which are focusing on specific sections of an action plan, such as season coordination within our competition structure, health and safety guidelines and possible rule modifications.  We will be bringing all information together into one document for our membership.  This will then act as our guideline as we move forward this season, acknowledging that we will have to also incorporate any further guidelines from the Ministry of Health and municipal venues.

The Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture has created a sport industry advisory panel to advise on return to play protocols for sport in Ontario.  Our Executive Director, Pam Julian, has been named to the Safety in Sport sub-committee of this group and will be ensuring that the interests of ringette are being included in these discussions.

We will be including a new section dedicated to this topic in our RO Rundown, where we will be updating you on any information or resources we may have, so please register to receive this newsletter if you have not already done so (And encourage your members and ringette friends to as well!).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Pam or Karla.

We thank everyone for their continued support and patience as we work through the coming months.

Regards,

RE:  London Ringette Association Membership Update

Dear Ringette Families,
During this unsettling time, we hope your family is healthy and staying active.  The purpose of this communication is touch base, provide a few updates and let you know we miss seeing you at the rink.
The LRA continues preparation for 2020-2021 season and while there is a hurdle with COVID-19 restrictions; the team is excited to consider how we can best prepare for when we can once again hit the ice.

What are we doing?

Coaching selection and timing for tryouts are in progress.  The LRA is working with Ringette Ontario for guidance; as well, government direction will dictate timing.  The LRA will share information as received. Our ice scheduler is working hard to secure ice as appropriate.
Registration for 2020-2021- stay tuned for more information and any changes in process.
The LRA is securing refunds for Regionals and Provincial tournaments. LRA will keep membership posted on next actions.

Stay Connected.
Reach out to your fellow Ringette families and keep positive.  We are in this together!
Do not forget to review the LRA website (Current News Page), Western Region and Ringette Ontario if you are looking for more information.
Keep informed on the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM); date to be determined.  Will not take place 12May2020.

Help needed!
Every year there is an opportunity to join the LRA Board and keep our sport alive.  This year there are six board positons open (various titles).  See website for more details.  Nominations and voting take place at the AGM.  Date of AGM meeting to be determined shortly and share with membership.
Executive Treasurer is open; start date is ASAP. Please reach out to President or Vice President if interested.

Equipment Return
Contact Equipment Manager Shawn Reidy or your Head Coach.
The arenas are closed making equipment collection difficult; however, we can arrange to collect as needed.  Reach out to Shawn.  The jerseys, goalie equipment, rings, first aid kits etc. are costly.  We appreciate your effort to care for these items and help reduce cost for our membership.

What else?
Springette- returns are processed; contact Andrew Wilkie with questions
Summer Ringette- while we are hopeful to get on the ice in Aug, there are no further updates (payment not accepted); contact Andrew Wilkie with questions <<insert email>>
Regional Coaches- thinking of coaching!  This is a great time to gain or maintain credentials to coach.  Reach out to Coaching Coordinator Jen or Lisa who can point you in the right direction!

We thank everyone for your patience as we navigate the impact of COVID.
There are several front line workers on the board and in our ringette community.
Thank you for keeping us safe!

Questions / comments do not hesitate to reach out to the board members.

March 31, 2020

Dear Ringette Ontario Members,

Due to the current uncertainty with COVID-19, Ringette Ontario has made the decision to suspend all sanctioned Ringette activities, including tryouts, until August 1st.  This date is based on the assumption of the re-opening of facilities by then but will be reconsidered at that time.  Ringette Ontario will continue to follow the recommendations by Ringette Canada and Public Health to ensure the safety and well being of our members.  Please note that any events held prior to this date will be considered unsanctioned and thus, not insured.

We encourage our members and Associations to use online tools to continue to run meetings, conduct coach selections/interviews and social interactions (We have all been enjoying the social media that Associations have been sharing!).   If any Association is interested in acccessing the Ringette Ontario conference lines and/or video conferencing tool, please contact Pam Julian at executivedirector@ringetteontario.com .  Remember that while we are having to physically distance ourselves, we can still be social through email, social media and video/phone calls.

The Ringette Ontario team has continued to work hard from our individual home offices and will be sending out updates on a regular basis.  If you have any questions or requests, please reach out to one of the team - our contact emails can be found on the website at www.ringetteontario.com - and we would be more than happy to help.

We wish you and your loved ones health and safety during these troubling times.

Yours in Ringette,

Pam Julian
Executive Director

Dear Families:

On behalf of the LRA, we hope this email finds you well and adjusting.

The purpose of this communication is to touch base during this challenging time and to share information we have available.  Our association is working closely with neighboring associations, Western Region and Ringette Ontario to respond and adapt our processes during the COVID outbreak.

A few facts to share are below:

·        Springette has been cancelled (ice has been removed); those who have paid will have funds returned in next 4-6 weeks
·        The Summer Ringette Program is currently suspended. Information regarding this program will be sent out as dates for return to play are confirmed through Ringette Ontario.
·        Collection of equipment is pending (jerseys, rings, goalie gear)
·        Tryouts will take place in the Fall. More information to follow as we understand more about COVID outbreak + closures of non-essential activities
·        Annual General Meeting (AGM) – date pending; per Ringette Ontario all ringette gathering suspended

ACTION:  Submit player intents (Provincial level) by 31 March 2020 (see website)  Please be sure to do this by the deadline as requested by Western Region Ringette. This allows our association to continue planning for the 2020-21 season by having the player intent information.

ACTION:  Submit coaching applications for 2020-2021 season. We have extended the application deadline and intend to proceed with coach selection as planned. Applications are now due 10 April 2020 (Application Form)

As always please don’t hesitate to reach out to our President or Vice President with questions, comments, and concerns.

We wish everyone well.  Stay active, stay healthy and we look forward to resuming our regular ringette season!

Western Region Ringette Association
Provincial Ringette 2020/21 Season

To all Ringette Families:

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe during these challenging times. I realize that Provincial Level Ringette for the 2020/21 Season is not at the forefront of anyone's mind these dates but it is prudent to provide a proper update to Associations Players and families at this time.

The WORL Committee has agreed to the following:
  1. That we maintain a holding pattern right now for tryouts with respect to dates and timing to see how things evolve.
  2. We will postpone the WORL AGM originally scheduled for April 27th to a future date TBD.
  3. The current player tracking spreadsheet is now posted on the WORL website for all to view and will be updated regularly.
  4. We are encouraging all players to submit their intent for next season by the March 31st deadline.
  5. We will schedule a new date to submit the Willing to Host a team form once we are allowed to host tryouts.
Please share this information within your respective Ringette Associations as well as with other players/families. Any questions contact your Association WORL Representative and I am happy to respond to any as well

Take care. Phil Singeris WORL President GLRL President p.singeris@rogers.com

Ringette Ontario Statement on COVID-19

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 13, 2020

From the President and Vice President of LRA:

I wanted to quickly touch base with all of you.

I have had a number of emails with respect to if practices could continue in light of the cancelation of the major ringette events.
This was clarified by RO in the latest social media post: "all ringette activities have been canceled".  Yes, this does include practices.

As of this time, all practices should also be canceled, and also any large gatherings such as year-end association parties should be canceled.
Teams will have to decide on any social events that they have planned on their own if they want to continue with those get-togethers.

Also,
Some players/parents are under the impression that RO could "change their minds" about the A Provincials, U12P event, regionals, Adult event or league play.
The current cancellation of all those items will not change and they will remain canceled.

March 13, 2020

Based on recommendations made from the Chief Medical Officer of Health, all ringette activities have been cancelled until further notice. We will do our best to keep everyone updated regularly.

We know that teams have been looking forward to upcoming events but we have made this decision for the health and safety of our members.

As difficult as this has been, please know this decision was not made lightly. We would like to encourage you to be positive and considerate when making comments about the virus and ringette on digital platforms.

Thank you for your time and patience. If you have any questions about COVID-19, please contact a physician.

Best Wishes,

The Ringette Ontario Team
